Over the past several months, Don Velmishi has demonstrated his extreme dedication to ensuring client and guest expectations were met as we were moving from 532 rooms to 1002 rooms with the completion and opening of a second tower at the Hilton Columbus Downtown to become Ohio’s largest hotel. As with any opening following new construction, there are many hurdles and delays one has to deal with and Don has attacked every obstacle before him with professionalism from a delay of over 6 weeks to the opening and closing of the second tower multiple times over that time frame. Shifting labor, shifting priorities, shifting expectations on a daily basis became the norm. In addition, Hilton received their QA Brand Audit and scored as a hotel a 95.7%, their highest score in the 10 years. Don lead his team to a perfect 100% for our Valet and Bell Services portion of the audit. Our very own Rick DiPietro has commented to myself, Rudy Touvell and Mehdi El Jamali how impressed he is with the service at the Hilton Columbus. The past several months have been a challenge and Don stepped up to that challenge and has been a true leader.
