Sal checks the boxes for all the basics of leadership. His skills, knowledge, and talents put him at the top of team members in the Region. However, it is his ability to adapt to any given situation that sets him apart.

When he took over leadership of the Valet Department in March 2021, it coincided with Biden/Harris taking office. This meant moving forward; every time VP Harris came to San Franciso, she would be staying at the Fairmont. If you have never dealt with the Secret Service, it can be a hard lesson in adaptation. One of the biggest challenges is staff background checks. Imagine being surrounded by more than 100 employees at other Propark properties, but not being able to get assistance due to SS Screening. He really must plan and make sure these visits do not derail the whole operation.

Last month during the APEC conference, his team was tested. This time not only was the VP in town, but also the President and most of the White House Staff. This meant that the Secret Service was in-house for almost 4 weeks, not a couple of days. As always, he and his rose to the occasion and made it happen. Sal continues to rise to the occasion with each new event and show why he is considered one of our best leaders in PAW.
